Adobe Commerce with Hyvä achieves only minor performance gains without comprehensive backend and infrastructure optimization.

A series of Google PageSpeed Insights tests also shows that Adobe Commerce performance lags behind Magento Open Source. This result is both expected and surprising.

It’s expected because Adobe Commerce is typically used by businesses with larger, more complex product catalogs and higher requirements for the frontend experience.

But it’s surprising because these businesses also tend to invest more in software development. Still, many of their sites appear poorly optimized. Even Adobe’s cloud hosting and CDN setups, which are widely used across these websites, do little to offset the performance issues caused by the platform.

❗Conclusion: while Hyvä offers some performance improvements, achieving significant gains requires additional, comprehensive optimization of both Adobe Commerce and its supporting infrastructure.

Check out the presentation below to learn more about the performance improvements achieved by websites that migrated to Hyvä. The data is based on tests run on a random sample from a database of 20,000 websites.

💡 P.S. Stay tuned for the next report, which will evaluate the real-world performance of the Adobe PWA frontend.
